Point your camera, skip the manual entry
Scan a receipt and RCT extracts and categorizes every line item automatically, no typing purchases in one by one. It takes about 3 seconds.
Every item, not just every expense
Most budgeting apps log a grocery run as one lump sum. RCT sorts each individual item into one of 49 categories, so a single shopping trip shows up as groceries, snacks, and dairy instead of one vague total.
Built for the way students actually spend
Charts and category breakdowns update the moment you scan, so it's quick, visual, and detailed enough to catch exactly where the money really goes.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does RCT do?
RCT is an iOS app that scans your receipts and automatically sorts each individual item into one of 49 spending categories, so you can see exactly what you're spending on, not just how much.
How is RCT different from other budgeting apps?
Most budgeting apps record a purchase as a single sum per transaction. RCT reads the receipt line by line, so one shopping trip can be split automatically into categories like groceries, snacks, and household goods instead of one undifferentiated total.
How many categories does RCT sort spending into?
RCT sorts scanned items into 49 categories, covering everything from snacks and dining to transport and pet supplies. Those categories sit inside 9 broader groups — groceries, going out, home, transport, shopping, fun, personal care, health, and money & obligations — which is the level the charts start at before you drill in.
Can I change how spending is grouped?
Yes. Every category belongs to one group by default, and you can move any category into a different group — coffee out of groceries and into going out, for example. You can also create up to two groups of your own, name them, and pick their icon and color. Reassigning a category regroups your existing spending too, not just what you scan afterwards.
Do I have to categorize purchases manually?
No. Scan a receipt with your camera and RCT extracts and categorizes each item automatically.
Can I add an expense without a receipt?
Yes. You can enter an amount by hand, or describe what you bought in plain text — "two coffees, a croissant and a sandwich" with the total you paid — and RCT turns that into an itemized, categorized receipt the same way a scan would.
