Super Detailed Budgeting

RCT is an iOS budgeting app that scans your receipts and sorts every individual item into one of 49 spending categories, rather than logging each purchase as a single lump sum. It is available in the Netherlands, Germany and Hungary.

Point your camera at a receipt and RCT reads it line by line, pulling out each item with its price and giving every one of them its own category. Discounts and bottle deposits, which supermarkets print on separate lines, are matched back to the item they belong to. You see a review screen before anything is saved, so you can rename an item, change its category or fix a price.

Most budgeting apps record a purchase as a single sum per transaction. RCT reads the receipt line by line, so one shopping trip can be split automatically into categories like groceries, snacks, and household goods instead of one undifferentiated total.

No. RCT reads the receipt itself, so it works with any card, any bank and with cash, and it never needs access to your bank account. Contactless payments that produce no receipt at all can be logged from an Apple Pay Shortcut notification instead.

Yes. You can enter an amount by hand, or describe what you bought in plain text, such as "two coffees, a croissant and a sandwich" with the total you paid, and RCT turns that into an itemized, categorized receipt the same way a scan would.

No. Scan a receipt with your camera and RCT extracts and categorizes each item automatically. When you move an item to a different category, it remembers, and suggests that category for similar item names next time.

RCT sorts scanned items into 49 categories, covering everything from snacks and dining to transport and pet supplies. Those categories sit inside 9 broader groups (groceries, going out, home, transport, shopping, fun, personal care, health, and money & obligations), which is the level the charts start at before you drill in.

Yes. Every category belongs to one group by default, and you can move any category into a different group, moving coffee out of groceries and into going out, for example. You can also create up to two groups of your own, name them, and pick their icon and color. Reassigning a category regroups your existing spending too, not just what you scan afterwards.

RCT is available in the Netherlands, Germany and Hungary, and its item categorization is tuned for receipts printed in Dutch, German and Hungarian. Receipts in other languages are still read and categorized, through a more general fallback. Spending in a foreign currency is converted to your home currency using a rate that refreshes daily.
