Missed the Apple Pay Notification? It's Still Waiting for You
If you don’t tap RCT’s Apple Pay notification right away, the transaction isn’t lost. It gets saved to a pending list, organized by day, that you can open later to review and categorize everything you missed in one pass.
The Apple Pay Shortcut notification works best when you tap it right after paying, but that’s not always realistic. You’re mid-conversation, your phone’s in your pocket, or you just dismiss it without thinking. RCT accounts for that instead of expecting every notification to be handled instantly.
Every missed tap gets saved, not dropped
Each Apple Pay transaction that triggers a notification is stored the moment it happens, with the merchant, amount, currency, and time. If the notification gets dismissed or ignored, that data doesn’t disappear, it moves into a pending transactions list inside the app.
Organized by day, reviewed in one pass
Open the pending list and transactions are grouped by the day they happened, so a week of missed taps doesn’t turn into one long undifferentiated list. You go day by day, assign a category to each one (RCT still suggests categories based on how often you’ve used them before), and clear the backlog the same way you’d catch up on a pile of receipts with batch scanning.
Why this matters
A single missed notification shouldn’t mean a contactless purchase never makes it into your budget. Keeping a pending queue is what makes the Apple Pay Shortcut reliable even on the days you’re too busy to deal with it the second it happens.
